Sweden offers a unique appeal for a segment of Nigeria's 219 million population, thanks to its stunning landscapes and lively cities. The country has a well-developed tourism infrastructure, attracting a modest number of international visitors. While it may not be a mainstream destination, its focus on quality experiences makes it attractive for specific travelers from Nigeria.
Sweden is generally considered a safe destination for tourists, including those from Nigeria. According to the Global Peace Index, Sweden ranks 39th out of 160 countries, indicating a relatively high level of safety, especially compared to Nigeria, which ranks 144th. In terms of crime statistics, Sweden has a significantly lower murder rate of 1.1 per 100,000 people, compared to Nigeria's 22.0. Additionally, Sweden's organized crime indices suggest a more stable environment, with lower scores in areas such as state crime and human trafficking compared to Nigeria. While Sweden is ranked 36th among 40 European countries for safety while walking alone at night, it remains a safer option overall for tourists compared to Nigeria. Therefore, Nigerian tourists can generally expect a safe experience in Sweden.
