Nigeria offers a vibrant and diverse experience for tourists, featuring a rich cultural heritage and beautiful landscapes. While it attracts a moderate number of visitors overall, it could appeal to some of the 4.2 million Swedes who travel abroad annually, making it a potential destination for a select group of Swedish travelers.
Nigeria presents significant safety concerns for tourists, particularly when compared to Sweden. While Sweden ranks 39th in the Global Peace Index, Nigeria is ranked 144th out of 160 countries. The murder rate in Nigeria is notably higher at 22.0 per 100,000 people, compared to Sweden's 1.1. Additionally, organized crime indices reveal that Nigeria faces greater challenges, with higher scores in crime networks (9.0), state crime (7.5), and human trafficking (7.5), compared to Sweden's scores, which are generally lower. Overall, tourists from Sweden should exercise caution and stay informed about safety conditions when considering travel to Nigeria.
