Saudi Arabia offers a compelling destination for some Tunisian visitors, thanks to its rich cultural heritage and important religious sites. The country is actively enhancing its tourism infrastructure as part of a broader strategy to diversify its economy beyond oil. With around 700,000 Tunisians traveling abroad annually, a portion may find Saudi Arabia an appealing choice for their travels.
Saudi Arabia's safety for tourists from Tunisia can be assessed through various indices. According to the Global Peace Index, Saudi Arabia ranks 100th out of 160 countries, while Tunisia ranks higher at 72nd. In terms of murder rates, Tunisia has a rate of 4.8 per 100,000 people, compared to Saudi Arabia's lower rate of 0.8. The Global Organized Crime Index indicates that Saudi Arabia faces more challenges with organized crime, scoring higher in categories like state crime (8.0) and human trafficking (8.5) compared to Tunisia's scores of 5.5 and 4.0, respectively. Overall, while Saudi Arabia has lower murder rates, the higher organized crime indices suggest that tourists should remain vigilant and informed about their surroundings.
