Tunisia offers a diverse tourism experience, blending rich cultural heritage and natural beauty. With historical sites like Carthage and El Djem, it appeals to those interested in archaeology and history. Given that 4.8 million Saudis travel abroad annually, Tunisia could attract a portion of these travelers seeking unique experiences.
Tunisia is generally considered a relatively safe destination for tourists, including those from Saudi Arabia. According to the Global Peace Index, Tunisia ranks 72nd out of 160 countries, which is better than Saudi Arabia's ranking of 100th. In terms of crime statistics, the murder rate in Tunisia is higher at 4.8 per 100,000 people compared to Saudi Arabia's 0.8. However, when looking at organized crime indices, Tunisia scores better in several areas, such as mafia groups (Tunisia 1.0 vs. Saudi Arabia 3.0) and the heroin trade (Tunisia 2.0 vs. Saudi Arabia 6.5). While Tunisia has its challenges, it offers a safer environment for tourists compared to Saudi Arabia in certain aspects. Travelers are advised to stay informed and exercise standard precautions while visiting.
