Egypt is an appealing destination for some of the 23 million people in Burkina Faso, thanks to its rich history and cultural significance. Despite recent fluctuations in its tourism sector, Egypt continues to attract millions of visitors annually, offering opportunities for cultural exchange and economic engagement.
Egypt is generally considered safer for tourists compared to Burkina Faso. According to the Global Peace Index, Egypt ranks 103rd out of 160 countries, while Burkina Faso is ranked 146th. In terms of murder rates, Egypt has a rate of 2.6 per 100,000 people, compared to Burkina Faso's 1.3. The Global Organized Crime Index also indicates that Egypt has lower scores in several crime categories compared to Burkina Faso, particularly in organized crime and drug trafficking. For example, Egypt scores better in mafia groups (3.0 vs. 3.5) and resource crime (4.0 vs. 8.5). While no destination is without risks, tourists from Burkina Faso may find Egypt to be a relatively safer option for travel.
