Burkina Faso offers a unique appeal for adventurous travelers, showcasing a diverse cultural heritage and intrinsic attractions. While it sees relatively low global tourist arrivals, it could attract a segment of Egypt's population of 111 million, making it an intriguing destination for some visitors from Egypt.
Burkina Faso is currently considered less safe for tourists compared to Egypt. According to the Global Peace Index, Burkina Faso ranks 146th out of 160 countries, while Egypt ranks 103rd. In terms of crime statistics, the murder rate in Egypt is 2.6 per 100,000 people, compared to 1.3 in Burkina Faso. While Burkina Faso has a lower murder rate, the overall safety perception is affected by higher levels of organized crime and instability. The Global Organized Crime Index indicates that Burkina Faso has higher scores in several crime categories, suggesting a more challenging environment for tourists. For instance, the index for crime networks is 6.5 for Burkina Faso, compared to 5.5 for Egypt, indicating a greater prevalence of organized crime. Overall, tourists from Egypt should exercise caution when considering travel to Burkina Faso, as the safety conditions are not as favorable.
