Ecuador presents a compelling destination for French travelers, offering a rich array of cultural and natural experiences. Its diverse attractions include the famous Galápagos Islands, the Andes mountains, and the Amazon rainforest. With 13.7 million French citizens traveling abroad annually, a portion may find Ecuador particularly appealing.
Ecuador presents certain safety concerns for tourists, particularly when compared to France. While France ranks 84th in the Global Peace Index, Ecuador is significantly lower at 128th out of 160 countries. The murder rate in Ecuador is notably higher at 14.0 per 100,000 people, compared to France's rate of 1.1. Additionally, various crime indices indicate that Ecuador faces challenges with organized crime, with higher ratings in areas such as state crime and foreign crime compared to France. In summary, while tourists from France can visit Ecuador, they should remain vigilant and informed about safety issues, as the overall crime rates and safety rankings suggest a higher risk environment.
