Bangladesh presents a unique and evolving tourism experience characterized by lush landscapes and diverse cultures, which may appeal to some Belgian travelers. Although it currently ranks low in tourist arrivals, it attracts a mix of visitors looking for authentic cultural experiences and natural beauty. With 8.6 million Belgians traveling abroad annually, there is potential interest among them in exploring Bangladesh.
Bangladesh presents certain safety concerns for tourists from Belgium. While Belgium ranks 16th in the Global Peace Index, indicating a relatively high level of safety, Bangladesh is ranked 91st out of 160 countries, suggesting it is less safe for travelers. In terms of crime statistics, the murder rate in Bangladesh is 2.4 per 100,000 people, compared to Belgium's low rate of 1.1. Additionally, various organized crime indices indicate that Bangladesh faces significant challenges, such as a higher prevalence of human trafficking (index of 8.0) compared to Belgium (5.0). Overall, while many tourists visit Bangladesh without issues, it is advisable for travelers from Belgium to remain vigilant and informed about local safety conditions.
