Zambia is an appealing destination for some visitors from Botswana, particularly due to its renowned natural attractions like Victoria Falls, a UNESCO World Heritage site. The country's diverse culture and stunning landscapes also attract adventure seekers and nature lovers among the approximately 3 million Batswana.
Zambia is generally considered a relatively safe destination for tourists, ranking 55th out of 160 countries on the Global Peace Index, compared to Botswana's 49th position. The murder rate in Zambia is lower at 5.4 per 100,000 people, compared to Botswana's 10.5. In terms of organized crime, Botswana scores better overall, with lower indices in various categories, including mafia groups (1.0 for Botswana vs. 3.0 for Zambia) and human trafficking (4.5 for Botswana vs. 5.0 for Zambia). However, Zambia does have some challenges, particularly in flora crime, where it ranks 8.0. While Zambia is relatively safe, tourists should remain aware of their surroundings and take standard precautions, as crime can still occur.
