Head of mission: Mr. James William Armitage, Consul General (as of 2023)
Vanuatu offers a unique and enriching experience for visitors, particularly with its stunning coral reefs and volcanic landscapes. Although it attracts a modest number of international tourists, the high spending per traveler indicates a rewarding experience. With 1.5 million Filipinos traveling abroad annually, Vanuatu could appeal to a segment of these travelers seeking a distinct destination.
Vanuatu is generally considered safe for tourists, including those from the Philippines. While the Philippines ranks 102nd in the Global Peace Index, Vanuatu has a significantly lower murder rate of 0.3 per 100,000 people compared to the Philippines' 4.4. Additionally, Vanuatu scores much better on the Global Organized Crime Index, with low indices for mafia groups (1.0), crime networks (1.0), and various forms of trafficking and smuggling. In contrast, the Philippines has higher scores indicating greater challenges in these areas. Overall, tourists can expect a safer environment in Vanuatu compared to the Philippines.
