Vietnam presents a compelling option for Nigerian visitors, featuring rich landscapes and a vibrant culture. While foreign tourist numbers are currently low, indicating a recovery phase, the country's tourism infrastructure is well-developed and shows promise. This makes Vietnam an appealing destination for a segment of Nigeria's population of 219 million.
Vietnam is generally considered a safe destination for tourists, including those from Nigeria. According to the Global Peace Index, Vietnam ranks 41st out of 160 countries, significantly safer than Nigeria, which ranks 144th. The murder rate in Vietnam is notably low at 1.5 per 100,000 people, compared to Nigeria's 22.0. In terms of organized crime, Vietnam has a slightly higher index than Nigeria for mafia groups (6.0 vs. 5.5), but it scores better in areas like arms trafficking (4.0 vs. 8.0) and cocaine trade (4.0 vs. 6.5). Overall, while both countries face challenges related to crime, Vietnam presents a safer environment for tourists.
