Uzbekistan offers a unique appeal for Thai visitors due to its rich heritage and developing tourism infrastructure. Although tourist arrivals have varied, with a peak in previous years followed by a decline, there remains potential interest among the approximately 10.4 million Thais who travel abroad annually. Some of these travelers may find Uzbekistan an intriguing destination.
Uzbekistan is generally considered a safe destination for tourists, including those from Thailand. According to the Global Peace Index, Uzbekistan ranks 58th out of 160 countries, making it safer than Thailand, which ranks 73rd. In terms of crime statistics, Uzbekistan has a lower murder rate of 1.4 per 100,000 people compared to Thailand's 4.9. Female murder rates are also lower in Uzbekistan (1.1) than in Thailand (1.2). The Global Organized Crime Index indicates that while there are some organized crime concerns in both countries, Uzbekistan scores better in several categories, particularly in arms and flora crime. Overall, the data suggests that Uzbekistan is a relatively safe option for travelers.
