The United States is a prominent tourist destination, appealing to millions annually due to its rich cultural landmarks, natural attractions, and vibrant cities. Its high international tourist receipts underscore its importance in global tourism. A portion of the 1.2 million Nepalese who travel abroad each year may find the U.S. an appealing choice.
The safety of the United States for tourists from Nepal can be assessed through various crime statistics. According to the Global Peace Index, the U.S. ranks 130th out of 160 countries, which indicates a lower safety level compared to Nepal, which ranks 78th. In terms of homicide rates, Nepal has a significantly lower murder rate of 2.1 per 100,000 people, while the U.S. has a rate of 6.8. Additionally, the female murder rate in the U.S. is 2.9. The Global Organized Crime Index also provides insights into crime levels. For instance, the U.S. scores 5.0 for mafia groups, while Nepal scores 4.5. Both countries have similar scores for crime networks (6.5), but Nepal scores higher in state crime (8.5) compared to the U.S. (5.0). Overall, while the U.S. offers a range of attractions for tourists, it is important for visitors from Nepal to be aware of these safety statistics and take necessary precautions while traveling.
