Ukraine offers a rich cultural and historical experience, making it an appealing destination for international tourists. In recent years, it has attracted a notable number of foreign visitors, positioning itself as a significant player in global tourism. This could be particularly interesting for a segment of Turkmenistan's population of 6 million.
Ukraine is currently considered less safe for tourists compared to Turkmenistan. According to the Global Peace Index, Ukraine ranks 156th out of 160 countries, while Turkmenistan is ranked 80th. The murder rates indicate that Turkmenistan has a lower rate at 4.2 per 100,000 people, compared to Ukraine's 3.8. Additionally, the Global Organized Crime Index shows that Ukraine faces higher levels of organized crime, with indices such as mafia groups (Ukraine 6.0 vs. Turkmenistan 3.0) and crime networks (Ukraine 7.0 vs. Turkmenistan 3.5) indicating a more significant presence of criminal activity. Overall, while there are risks associated with travel to Ukraine, tourists should stay informed and exercise caution.
