Ukraine offers a rich cultural and historical experience, making it an appealing destination for some of Syria's 21 million residents. The country has seen a growing number of international tourists, positioning itself as a noteworthy option in the global tourism landscape.
Ukraine's safety for tourists, including those from Syria, is a complex issue. According to the Global Peace Index, Ukraine ranks 156th out of 160 countries, while Syria ranks slightly better at 153rd. In terms of murder rates, Ukraine has a rate of 3.8 per 100,000 people, compared to Syria's 2.2. The Global Organized Crime Index indicates that both countries face significant challenges, with Ukraine scoring 6.0 for mafia groups and 7.0 for crime networks, while Syria scores 4.5 and 9.0, respectively. Overall, while both countries have high levels of crime and violence, the specific risks may vary. Tourists should exercise caution and stay informed about the current situation in Ukraine before traveling.
