Syria offers a unique blend of historical significance and natural beauty, making it an intriguing option for some Ukrainian travelers. With 11 million Ukrainians traveling abroad annually, there is potential interest in visiting Syria, despite the country's challenging past.

Please answer the following question: How safe is Syria for tourists coming from Ukraine?

Syria is currently considered a high-risk destination for tourists, including those from Ukraine. According to the Global Peace Index, Syria ranks 153rd out of 160 countries, while Ukraine is ranked 156th, indicating similar levels of safety. In terms of crime statistics, Syria has a murder rate of 2.2 per 100,000 people compared to Ukraine's 3.8. However, when looking at organized crime, Syria scores worse in several categories, including crime networks (9.0 for Syria vs. 7.0 for Ukraine) and state crime (10.0 for Syria vs. 8.0 for Ukraine). Overall, while the murder rate may suggest a slightly safer environment in Syria, the prevalence of organized crime and other safety concerns indicate that it is not a safe destination for tourists. Travelers should exercise extreme caution and stay informed about the current situation before considering travel to Syria.
