Ukraine offers a rich cultural heritage and historical depth, making it an appealing destination for international tourists. With 1.5 million Filipinos traveling abroad annually, a portion of them may find Ukraine to be an intriguing option for their travels.
Ukraine is currently considered less safe for tourists compared to the Philippines. According to the Global Peace Index, Ukraine ranks 156th out of 160 countries, while the Philippines ranks 102nd. In terms of murder rates, Ukraine has a rate of 3.8 per 100,000 people, slightly lower than the Philippines' rate of 4.4. However, the rate of female murders is higher in Ukraine at 1.9 compared to 0.8 in the Philippines. The Global Organized Crime Index indicates that Ukraine faces significant challenges with organized crime, scoring 6.0 for mafia groups and 7.0 for crime networks, while the Philippines scores higher in these areas at 8.0 and 6.0, respectively. Both countries have similar scores for state crime (8.0) and human trafficking (7.0). Overall, while both countries have their safety concerns, Ukraine's current situation may pose additional risks for tourists. It is advisable for travelers from the Philippines to stay informed and exercise caution when considering travel to Ukraine.
