The Philippines offers a captivating mix of stunning landscapes and vibrant culture, making it an appealing destination for some Ukrainian travelers. Although there has been a decline in tourist arrivals recently, the country's beautiful islands with turquoise waters and white sandy beaches still attract those looking for unique experiences. With 11 million Ukrainians traveling abroad annually, a portion may find the Philippines an intriguing option for their travels.
The safety of the Philippines for tourists from Ukraine can be assessed through various indices. According to the Global Peace Index, the Philippines ranks 102nd out of 160 countries, while Ukraine is ranked lower at 156th, indicating that the Philippines is generally safer than Ukraine. In terms of murder rates, the Philippines has a rate of 4.4 per 100,000 people, compared to Ukraine's 3.8. However, the female murder rate is lower in the Philippines at 0.8 compared to Ukraine's 1.9. The Global Organized Crime Index also provides insights, with the Philippines scoring 8.0 for mafia groups and 6.0 for crime networks, while Ukraine scores 6.0 and 7.0 respectively. Both countries have similar scores for human trafficking and smuggling, but the Philippines has higher scores for arms trafficking and synthetic drugs. In summary, while the Philippines has its own safety concerns, it is generally considered safer for tourists than Ukraine based on these indices. Travelers should stay informed and take standard precautions while visiting.
