Ukraine offers a rich cultural heritage and historical depth, making it an appealing destination for international tourists. In recent years, it has attracted a notable number of foreign visitors, solidifying its role in global tourism. This makes it an intriguing option for a segment of Malaysia's 34 million population.
Ukraine is currently considered less safe for tourists compared to Malaysia. According to the Global Peace Index, Ukraine ranks 156th out of 160 countries, while Malaysia ranks 10th. In terms of murder rates, Ukraine has a rate of 3.8 per 100,000 people, significantly higher than Malaysia's rate of 0.7. Additionally, the Global Organized Crime Index indicates that Ukraine faces greater challenges with organized crime, scoring worse in various categories such as mafia presence, crime networks, and state crime. Overall, travelers from Malaysia should exercise caution and stay informed about the current situation in Ukraine before planning their visit.
