Ukraine offers a rich cultural and historical experience, making it an appealing destination for Moldovan visitors. With around 200,000 Moldovans traveling abroad annually, a portion of them is likely to be drawn to Ukraine for its tourism opportunities.
Ukraine's safety for tourists coming from Moldova can be considered relatively concerning based on various safety rankings and crime statistics. According to the Global Peace Index, Ukraine ranks 156th out of 160 countries, indicating a lower level of safety compared to Moldova, which ranks 61st. Murder rates also reflect this disparity, with Ukraine having a rate of 3.8 per 100,000 people, compared to Moldova's 2.3. Additionally, various organized crime indices show that Ukraine generally has higher scores (indicating worse conditions) in areas such as mafia presence, crime networks, and state crime. Overall, while tourism is possible, travelers should exercise caution and stay informed about local conditions in Ukraine.
