Ukraine offers a rich cultural and historical experience, making it an appealing destination for some Italian travelers. With 12.4 million Italians traveling abroad annually, a portion may find Ukraine an intriguing option for their travels.
Ukraine is currently considered less safe for tourists compared to Italy. According to the Global Peace Index, Ukraine ranks 156th out of 160 countries, while Italy is 33rd. The murder rate in Ukraine is significantly higher, at 3.8 per 100,000 people, compared to Italy's 0.5. Additionally, various crime indices indicate that organized crime and state crime are more prevalent in Ukraine than in Italy. For example, Ukraine scores 6.0 for mafia groups and 8.0 for state crime on the Global Organized Crime Index, while Italy scores 9.0 and 6.5, respectively. These statistics suggest that tourists from Italy should exercise caution when considering travel to Ukraine.
