Ukraine offers a rich cultural and historical experience, making it an appealing destination for some Indian travelers. With 8.6 million Indians traveling abroad annually, a portion may find Ukraine an intriguing option for their travels.
Ukraine is currently not considered a very safe destination for tourists, including those from India. According to the Global Peace Index, Ukraine ranks 156th out of 160 countries, which is lower than India's ranking of 114th. In terms of crime statistics, the murder rate in Ukraine is 3.8 per 100,000 people, compared to India's 2.9. While female murder rates are lower in Ukraine at 1.9 compared to India's 2.5, other crime indices indicate higher risks in Ukraine. For instance, organized crime and state crime indices are worse in Ukraine, with scores of 6.0 and 8.0 respectively, compared to India's scores of 3.5 and 6.0. Overall, tourists should exercise caution and stay informed about the current situation in Ukraine before planning their visit.
