Ukraine offers a rich cultural and historical experience, making it an appealing destination for some British travelers. With 19.1 million Britons traveling abroad annually, a portion may find Ukraine an intriguing option for their travels.
Ukraine's safety for tourists from the United Kingdom is a concern, as it ranks significantly lower in various safety metrics. According to the Global Peace Index, Ukraine is ranked 156th out of 160 countries, compared to the UK's 34th position. The murder rate in Ukraine is 3.8 per 100,000 people, which is higher than the UK's rate of 1.0. Additionally, the Global Organized Crime Index indicates that Ukraine has higher levels of organized crime, with a score of 6.0 for mafia groups and 8.0 for state crime, compared to the UK's scores of 4.0 and 3.0, respectively. Overall, while tourists can visit Ukraine, they should remain vigilant and informed about the local safety conditions.
