Ukraine offers a rich cultural and historical experience, making it an appealing destination for some German travelers. With 99.5 million Germans traveling abroad annually, a portion may find Ukraine an interesting choice for their trips.
Ukraine currently poses significant safety concerns for tourists, particularly when compared to Germany. According to the Global Peace Index, Ukraine is ranked 156th out of 160 countries, whereas Germany is 20th. Additionally, the murder rate in Ukraine stands at 3.8 per 100,000 people, compared to Germany's much lower rate of 0.8. Crime statistics further highlight the disparity: Ukraine has higher indices for organized crime, with a score of 6.0 for mafia groups and 8.0 for state crime, compared to Germany's scores of 5.0 and 2.0, respectively. Given these factors, tourists from Germany should exercise caution and stay informed about the current situation in Ukraine before planning their visit.
