Ukraine offers a rich cultural and historical experience, making it an appealing destination for international tourists. With around 300,000 Cubans traveling abroad annually, a portion of these travelers may find Ukraine to be an intriguing option.
Ukraine is currently considered less safe for tourists compared to Cuba. According to the Global Peace Index, Ukraine ranks 156th out of 160 countries, while Cuba ranks 96th. In terms of murder rates, Cuba has a rate of 5.0 per 100,000 people, compared to Ukraine's 3.8. The Global Organized Crime Index also highlights significant differences: Cuba scores better in various crime categories, such as mafia groups (Cuba 4.0 vs. Ukraine 6.0) and crime networks (Cuba 2.5 vs. Ukraine 7.0). Additionally, Ukraine has higher scores for state crime (8.0) and arms trafficking (8.0), indicating more significant challenges in these areas. In summary, while Ukraine has a lower murder rate, overall safety and organized crime indices suggest that it is not as safe for tourists as Cuba. Travelers should exercise caution and stay informed about the current situation before visiting Ukraine.
