Ukraine offers a rich cultural and historical experience, making it an appealing destination for some Belgian travelers. With 8.6 million Belgians traveling abroad annually, a portion may find Ukraine to be an intriguing option for their travels.
Ukraine is currently considered less safe for tourists compared to Belgium. While Belgium ranks 16th in the Global Peace Index, Ukraine is significantly lower at 156th out of 160 countries. The murder rate in Ukraine is 3.8 per 100,000 people, compared to Belgium's 1.1. Additionally, crime indices indicate that Ukraine faces higher levels of organized crime and state crime, with scores of 6.0 and 8.0 respectively, compared to Belgium's 3.0 and 2.0. Overall, tourists from Belgium should exercise caution when considering travel to Ukraine due to these safety concerns.
