Türkiye offers a rich blend of culture and history, making it an appealing destination for some of the 26 million people in Niger. Its unique position as a crossroads of East and West, along with its diverse natural landscapes, attracts millions of international tourists each year.
Türkiye's safety for tourists from Niger can be assessed through various rankings and statistics. According to safety rankings, Türkiye is 31st among 40 European countries for safety while walking alone at night, although there is no specific data for Niger. The Global Peace Index places Türkiye at 137th out of 160 countries, while Niger is slightly lower at 139th, indicating similar safety levels. In terms of crime statistics, Türkiye has a murder rate of 2.5 per 100,000 people, which is lower than Niger's rate of 4.4. However, Türkiye faces challenges with organized crime, as indicated by higher scores in the Global Organized Crime Index, particularly in areas such as state crime and human smuggling. Overall, while Türkiye has a lower murder rate than Niger, it does have higher organized crime indices. Tourists should remain aware of their surroundings and take standard safety precautions when visiting Türkiye.
