Türkiye is a compelling destination for many Iraqis, thanks to its rich cultural heritage and diverse natural landscapes. The country's unique blend of Eastern and Western influences makes it appealing to a segment of Iraq's 44 million population, contributing to its status as a significant player in the global tourism market.
Türkiye is generally considered safer for tourists compared to Iraq. According to the Global Peace Index, Türkiye ranks 137th out of 160 countries, while Iraq ranks 148th. In terms of murder rates, Türkiye's rate is significantly lower at 2.5 per 100,000 people, compared to Iraq's 10.1. When examining organized crime, Türkiye has higher indices for mafia groups and state crime than Iraq, but it also has lower scores for foreign crime and human smuggling, indicating a mixed landscape. Overall, while Türkiye has its challenges, it presents a safer environment for tourists compared to Iraq.
