Türkiye offers a unique blend of culture and history, making it an appealing destination for international tourists. With its rich heritage and diverse landscapes, it attracts millions of visitors each year. Given that 300,000 Cubans travel abroad annually, some may find Türkiye an intriguing option for their travels.
Türkiye presents a mixed safety profile for tourists, including those from Cuba. According to safety rankings, Türkiye is 31st out of 40 European countries for safety while walking alone at night. In contrast, Cuba is ranked 96th globally in the Global Peace Index, while Türkiye is lower at 137th out of 160 countries. In terms of crime statistics, Türkiye has a murder rate of 2.5 per 100,000 people, which is lower than Cuba's rate of 5.0. However, Türkiye faces challenges with organized crime, scoring higher in various crime indices, such as mafia groups (8.0 for Türkiye vs. 4.0 for Cuba) and state crime (9.0 for Türkiye vs. 4.0 for Cuba). Overall, while Türkiye may have certain safety concerns, particularly related to organized crime, its murder rate is lower than Cuba's. Tourists should remain vigilant and informed about their surroundings when visiting.
