Türkiye is an appealing destination for many Azerbaijani travelers, thanks to its rich cultural heritage and diverse landscapes. With around 1 million Azerbaijanis traveling abroad annually, a portion of them is likely to consider Türkiye for their trips. The country's unique blend of Eastern and Western influences enhances its attractiveness in the international tourism market.
Türkiye can be considered moderately safe for tourists from Azerbaijan, although there are some differences in safety rankings and crime statistics between the two countries. In terms of safety while walking alone at night, Türkiye ranks 31st out of 40 European countries, but specific data for Azerbaijan is not available for comparison. According to the Global Peace Index, Türkiye is ranked 137th out of 160 countries, while Azerbaijan is ranked higher at 104th. When looking at murder rates, Azerbaijan has a lower rate of 1.9 per 100,000 people compared to Türkiye's 2.5. For female murders, Azerbaijan also has a slightly higher rate of 1.3, while Türkiye's rate is 1.0. The Global Organized Crime Index indicates that Türkiye faces more challenges with organized crime, with higher indices in several categories, such as mafia groups (8.0 for Türkiye vs. 5.5 for Azerbaijan) and state crime (9.0 for Türkiye vs. 7.5 for Azerbaijan). Overall, while Türkiye offers rich cultural experiences and is generally safe for tourists, visitors should remain aware of their surroundings and exercise caution, particularly in urban areas.
