Tunisia offers a compelling mix of cultural and natural attractions, making it appealing to some Ukrainian travelers. With historical sites such as Carthage and El Djem, it caters to those interested in archaeology and history. Given that 11 million Ukrainians travel abroad annually, a portion may find Tunisia an intriguing destination.
Tunisia is generally considered a relatively safe destination for tourists, including those from Ukraine. According to the Global Peace Index, Tunisia ranks 72nd out of 160 countries, significantly safer than Ukraine, which ranks 156th. In terms of crime statistics, the murder rate in Tunisia is 4.8 per 100,000 people, slightly higher than Ukraine's rate of 3.8. However, both countries have the same female murder rate of 1.9. When looking at organized crime, Tunisia scores better in several categories: it has a mafia group index of 1.0 compared to Ukraine's 6.0, and lower indices for crime networks (4.0 vs. 7.0) and state crime (5.5 vs. 8.0). While both countries face challenges related to crime, Tunisia presents a safer environment for tourists relative to Ukraine. Travelers are always advised to stay informed and exercise standard precautions while visiting any country.
