Tajikistan offers a unique and diverse tourism experience, characterized by its stunning mountainous landscapes. While it remains one of the less popular travel destinations, it is gradually gaining recognition in the international tourism sector. Given that approximately 11 million Ukrainians travel abroad annually, there is potential interest among some of them in visiting Tajikistan.
Tajikistan is considered relatively safe for tourists, including those from Ukraine. According to the Global Peace Index, Tajikistan ranks 69th out of 160 countries, significantly safer than Ukraine, which ranks 156th. In terms of crime statistics, Tajikistan has a murder rate of 0.9 per 100,000 people, compared to Ukraine's 3.8. The rates for female murders are also lower in Tajikistan (0.2) than in Ukraine (1.9). The Global Organized Crime Index indicates that while both countries face challenges, Tajikistan generally has lower scores in several crime categories compared to Ukraine. For instance, Tajikistan scores better in arms trafficking (4.0 vs. 8.0) and flora crime (2.5 vs. 6.5). Overall, Tajikistan presents a safer environment for tourists compared to Ukraine, although travelers should always remain cautious and informed about local conditions.
