Thailand offers a vibrant culture, warm hospitality, rich history, enticing cuisine, and beautiful beaches, making it an appealing destination for some Ukrainian travelers. With 11 million Ukrainians traveling abroad annually, a portion may find Thailand to be an interesting option, despite the country ranking modestly in terms of overall tourist arrivals.
Thailand is generally considered a relatively safe destination for tourists, including those from Ukraine. According to the Global Peace Index, Thailand ranks 73rd out of 160 countries, significantly safer than Ukraine, which is ranked 156th. In terms of crime statistics, the murder rate in Thailand is 4.9 per 100,000 people, compared to Ukraine's rate of 3.8. However, female murder rates are lower in Thailand (1.2) than in Ukraine (1.9). The Global Organized Crime Index indicates that Thailand has lower scores in several categories related to organized crime compared to Ukraine, with Thailand scoring 1.5 for mafia groups and 5.0 for crime networks, while Ukraine scores 6.0 and 7.0, respectively. Overall, while both countries face challenges, Thailand is statistically safer for tourists than Ukraine.
