Thailand offers a vibrant culture, warm hospitality, rich history, enticing cuisine, and beautiful beaches, making it an appealing destination for some Turkish travelers. With 2.7 million Turks traveling abroad annually, a portion may find Thailand an interesting choice, despite the country ranking modestly in overall tourist arrivals.
Thailand is generally considered a relatively safe destination for tourists, including those from Türkiye. According to the Global Peace Index, Thailand ranks 73rd out of 160 countries, which is significantly safer than Türkiye, ranked 137th. While Türkiye has a lower murder rate (2.5 per 100,000 people) compared to Thailand (4.9 per 100,000), it is important to note that crime rates can vary widely by region. In terms of organized crime, Thailand has lower indices in several categories compared to Türkiye, indicating a lesser presence of mafia groups and organized crime networks. Overall, while both countries have their safety concerns, Thailand is perceived as a safer option for tourists, particularly when considering broader crime statistics and organized crime indices. Tourists should always exercise caution and stay informed about their surroundings, regardless of the destination.
