Thailand offers a vibrant culture, warm hospitality, and beautiful beaches, making it an appealing destination for some Azerbaijani travelers. With around 1 million Azerbaijanis traveling abroad annually, there is potential interest in visiting Thailand, despite its modest ranking in tourist arrivals.
Thailand is generally considered a relatively safe destination for tourists, including those from Azerbaijan. According to the Global Peace Index, Thailand ranks 73rd out of 160 countries, which is safer than Azerbaijan's ranking of 104th. In terms of crime statistics, the murder rate in Thailand is 4.9 per 100,000 people, compared to Azerbaijan's 1.9. However, female murder rates are slightly lower in Thailand at 1.2 compared to Azerbaijan's 1.3. The Global Organized Crime Index indicates that Thailand has lower scores in mafia and organized crime activities (1.5 for mafia groups and 5.0 for crime networks) compared to Azerbaijan (5.5 for both). However, Thailand faces challenges with human trafficking and drug-related crimes, scoring higher in these areas. Overall, while both countries have their safety concerns, Thailand is statistically safer for tourists than Azerbaijan based on the provided metrics. Travelers should remain vigilant and take standard precautions while visiting.
