Thailand offers a vibrant culture, warm hospitality, rich history, enticing cuisine, and beautiful beaches, making it an appealing destination for some Brazilian travelers. With 10.6 million Brazilians traveling abroad annually, there is potential interest in visiting Thailand, despite its modest ranking in overall tourist arrivals.
Thailand is generally considered a safe destination for tourists, including those from Brazil. According to the Global Peace Index, Thailand ranks 73rd out of 160 countries, which is significantly better than Brazil's ranking of 129th. In terms of crime statistics, Thailand has a much lower murder rate of 4.9 per 100,000 people compared to Brazil's 22.5. Additionally, female murder rates are also lower in Thailand (1.2) than in Brazil (3.5). The Global Organized Crime Index further highlights the differences, with Thailand scoring better in various categories, such as mafia groups (1.5 in Thailand vs. 7.5 in Brazil) and overall crime networks (5.0 in Thailand vs. 6.5 in Brazil). While there are still challenges in Thailand, it is comparatively safer for tourists than Brazil.
