Brazil offers a rich blend of vibrant cultures and stunning landscapes, making it an appealing destination for some Thai travelers. With a well-developed tourism infrastructure and attractions ranging from famous beaches to the Amazon rainforest, it has the potential to attract a portion of the 10.4 million Thais who travel abroad annually.
Brazil presents some safety concerns for tourists, especially when compared to Thailand. According to the Global Peace Index, Brazil ranks 129th out of 160 countries, whereas Thailand is ranked 73rd. The murder rate in Brazil is significantly higher at 22.5 per 100,000 people, compared to Thailand's 4.9. Additionally, the Global Organized Crime Index indicates that Brazil faces more severe organized crime issues, with higher indices in categories such as mafia groups (Brazil 7.5 vs. Thailand 1.5) and drug trafficking (cocaine trade: Brazil 9.0 vs. Thailand 4.0). While many tourists visit Brazil without incident, it is advisable for travelers from Thailand to exercise caution, stay informed about local conditions, and take necessary safety precautions.
