Thailand offers a vibrant culture, warm hospitality, rich history, enticing cuisine, and beautiful beaches, making it an appealing destination for some Bahraini visitors. With around 500,000 Bahrainis traveling abroad annually, a portion may find Thailand to be an interesting choice, despite the country's modest ranking in tourist arrivals.
Thailand is generally considered a relatively safe destination for tourists, including those from Bahrain. According to the Global Peace Index, Thailand ranks 73rd out of 160 countries, making it safer than Bahrain, which ranks 79th. However, it's important to note that Thailand has a higher murder rate of 4.9 per 100,000 people compared to Bahrain's 0.1. Additionally, while both countries have low mafia activity, Thailand faces more challenges with organized crime, particularly in areas like human trafficking and drug trade. Travelers should remain aware of their surroundings and take standard safety precautions while visiting Thailand.
