Bahrain offers a unique blend of historical charm and modern attractions, making it an appealing destination for some Thai travelers. With 2.2 million international visitors annually, its vibrant markets and rich pearl diving heritage are notable draws. Given that 10.4 million Thais travel abroad each year, a portion may find Bahrain an interesting option.
Bahrain is generally considered a safe destination for tourists, including those coming from Thailand. According to the Global Peace Index, Bahrain ranks 79th out of 160 countries, while Thailand ranks slightly higher at 73rd. In terms of crime statistics, Bahrain has a significantly lower murder rate of 0.1 per 100,000 people compared to Thailand's 4.9. This indicates a safer environment regarding violent crime. However, when looking at organized crime indices, Bahrain scores better in some areas, such as mafia presence and state crime, but Thailand has lower scores in human trafficking and foreign crime. Overall, while Bahrain is relatively safe, travelers should remain aware of their surroundings and follow local guidelines, as they would in any foreign country.
