Chad offers a unique blend of natural beauty and cultural richness, making it an intriguing destination for some Chinese travelers. With its vast desert landscapes, traditional Saharan cultures, and notable wildlife areas like the Ennedi Plateau and Zakouma National Park, it has the potential to attract a segment of the 20.3 million Chinese tourists who travel abroad annually.
Chad is generally considered less safe for tourists compared to China. According to the Global Peace Index, Chad ranks 133rd out of 160 countries, while China ranks 87th. The murder rate in China is notably low at 0.5 per 100,000 people, but specific data for Chad is not available. In terms of organized crime, Chad has higher risks in several categories compared to China. For example, Chad scores 8.5 for state crime, indicating a higher level of concern, while China's score is 7.0. Additionally, Chad scores poorly in arms trafficking (8.0) and resource crime (7.0), compared to China's much lower scores. Overall, tourists from China should exercise caution when considering travel to Chad, given the higher crime indices and lower safety rankings.
