Seychelles is an appealing destination for some Sri Lankan travelers. This picturesque archipelago in the Indian Ocean features stunning beaches, lush landscapes, and clear waters, attracting around 200,000 international visitors each year. With approximately 300,000 Sri Lankans traveling abroad annually, a portion may find Seychelles to be an enticing option for their vacations.
Seychelles is generally considered safe for tourists, including those from Sri Lanka. However, it's important to note that Seychelles has a higher murder rate (4.7 per 100,000) compared to Sri Lanka (3.5 per 100,000). Additionally, female murder rates are also higher in Seychelles (5.4) than in Sri Lanka (2.2). In terms of organized crime, Seychelles scores better in some areas, such as mafia groups (2.0 in Seychelles vs. 4.0 in Sri Lanka) and state crime (4.5 in both countries). However, Seychelles has a higher score for human trafficking (4.0) compared to Sri Lanka (5.5). Overall, while Seychelles has some crime concerns, it remains a popular tourist destination. Travelers should exercise standard precautions, stay informed about local conditions, and follow safety guidelines while visiting.
