Saudi Arabia is increasingly appealing to Ukrainian visitors due to its rich cultural heritage and important religious sites. The country is actively investing in tourism infrastructure as part of its strategy to diversify its economy beyond oil. Given that 11 million Ukrainians travel abroad annually, a portion may find Saudi Arabia an intriguing destination.
Saudi Arabia is generally considered safer for tourists compared to Ukraine. According to the Global Peace Index, Saudi Arabia ranks 100th out of 160 countries, while Ukraine is ranked 156th. In terms of crime statistics, the murder rate in Saudi Arabia is significantly lower at 0.8 per 100,000 people, compared to Ukraine's rate of 3.8. Additionally, the Global Organized Crime Index indicates that while both countries face challenges, Saudi Arabia has lower indices for mafia groups (3.0 vs. 6.0 in Ukraine) and foreign crime (3.0 vs. 6.0 in Ukraine). However, both countries have similar scores for state crime (8.0). Overall, while no destination is without risks, Saudi Arabia presents a safer environment for tourists coming from Ukraine based on these statistics.
