Saudi Arabia offers a rich cultural heritage and important religious sites, making it an increasingly appealing destination for some of Senegal's 17 million residents. The country's investments in tourism infrastructure and efforts to diversify its economy beyond oil further enhance its attractiveness as a multifaceted travel destination.
Saudi Arabia is generally considered safe for tourists, but it ranks lower in safety compared to Senegal. According to the Global Peace Index, Saudi Arabia is ranked 100th out of 160 countries, while Senegal is ranked 82nd. The murder rate in Saudi Arabia is 0.8 per 100,000 people, compared to Senegal's 0.3. Additionally, the Global Organized Crime Index indicates that Saudi Arabia has higher levels of organized crime and state crime compared to Senegal. For instance, Saudi Arabia scores 8.0 for state crime and 8.5 for human trafficking, while Senegal scores 4.5 and 5.0, respectively. Overall, while tourists can visit Saudi Arabia safely, they should be aware of the relative differences in safety and crime statistics compared to Senegal.
