Saudi Arabia offers a rich cultural heritage and important religious sites, making it increasingly attractive to tourists. The country is investing in tourism infrastructure as part of its economic diversification strategy, enhancing its appeal. This could interest a segment of Mozambique's 33 million population.
Saudi Arabia is generally considered safer for tourists compared to Mozambique. According to the Global Peace Index, Saudi Arabia ranks 100th out of 160 countries, while Mozambique is ranked 106th. The murder rate in Saudi Arabia is significantly lower at 0.8 per 100,000 people, compared to Mozambique's 3.5. In terms of organized crime, Saudi Arabia has lower scores in several categories compared to Mozambique, indicating less prevalence of certain criminal activities. For instance, Saudi Arabia scores 3.0 for mafia groups versus Mozambique's 3.5, and has a lower score for crime networks (6.5 vs. 8.0). However, it is important to note that Saudi Arabia has higher scores for state crime and human trafficking, which could be areas of concern. Overall, while both countries have their safety challenges, Saudi Arabia presents a relatively safer environment for tourists from Mozambique.
