Russia offers a rich blend of cultural and natural attractions that can appeal to visitors from Brunei. Although it receives around 6.4 million foreign tourists each year, its appeal lies in the variety of experiences available rather than just the number of visitors. Consequently, it may attract a segment of Bruneians interested in exploring its unique offerings.
Russia presents certain safety concerns for tourists, including those from Brunei. It is ranked 30th out of 40 European countries for safety while walking alone at night. However, it has a relatively low global safety ranking, positioned 154th out of 160 countries according to the Global Peace Index. Crime statistics indicate a significant difference in murder rates, with Brunei reporting 0.5 murders per 100,000 people compared to Russia's 6.8. Additionally, various organized crime indices show that Russia has higher levels of organized crime and violence compared to Brunei, with scores indicating a more challenging environment in areas such as human trafficking, drug trade, and state crime. Overall, while Russia offers rich cultural experiences, tourists should remain cautious and informed about safety risks during their visit.
