Serbia offers a diverse array of attractions and experiences that appeal to a segment of Montenegro's population of about one million. Its unique geographic location and rich cultural heritage make it an intriguing destination for some Montenegrin visitors.
Serbia is generally considered a safe destination for tourists, including those coming from Montenegro. It ranks 13th out of 40 countries for safety while walking alone at night, which is comparable to Montenegro's ranking of 10th. According to the Global Peace Index, Serbia is ranked 53rd out of 160 countries, indicating a relatively safe environment, though it is less safe than Montenegro, which ranks 35th. In terms of crime statistics, Serbia has a lower murder rate of 1.1 per 100,000 people compared to Montenegro's 2.4. However, the organized crime indices show that both countries face challenges, with Serbia scoring slightly worse in some areas, such as state crime and arms trafficking. Overall, while both countries have their safety concerns, Serbia remains a viable and relatively safe option for tourists from Montenegro.
