Qatar offers a compelling mix of modernity and cultural heritage, complemented by its stunning desert landscapes and urban scenery. While it sees a moderate number of tourists, it attracts high-value visitors, indicating its appeal as a premium destination. This makes it an interesting option for a segment of the 21 million Syrians.
Qatar is considered a safe destination for tourists, including those coming from Syria. According to the Global Peace Index, Qatar ranks 29th out of 160 countries, significantly safer than Syria, which ranks 153rd. In terms of crime statistics, Qatar has a low murder rate of 0.3 per 100,000 people, compared to Syria's 2.2. The Global Organized Crime Index also reflects this disparity, with Qatar scoring better in various categories, such as mafia groups (Qatar 1.0 vs. Syria 4.5) and state crime (Qatar 6.0 vs. Syria 10.0). Overall, tourists from Syria can expect a much safer environment in Qatar.
