Portugal is an appealing destination for many visitors, including Ukrainians. With its rich culture and stunning landscapes, it attracts millions of tourists annually. Although the popularity of the destination has varied, recent trends show a gradual increase in foreign tourist arrivals. Given that 11 million Ukrainians travel abroad each year, a portion may find Portugal an attractive option for their travels.
Portugal is generally considered a safe destination for tourists, including those coming from Ukraine. It ranks 7th in the Global Peace Index out of 160 countries, indicating a high level of safety. In terms of crime statistics, Portugal has a significantly lower murder rate of 0.8 per 100,000 people compared to Ukraine's 3.8. While Portugal ranks 15th in safety for walking alone at night among 40 European countries, there is no specific data available for Ukraine in this context. Additionally, organized crime indices show that Portugal has lower scores in various categories compared to Ukraine, suggesting a more secure environment.
