Pakistan offers a rich cultural heritage and stunning natural landscapes, making it an appealing destination for some Ghanaians. Its evolving tourism infrastructure, with nearly 3,000 hotels available on TripAdvisor, indicates a growing capacity to cater to various travelers. While it may attract a segment of Ghana's 33 million population, interest will vary among individuals.
Pakistan's safety for tourists, including those from Ghana, is a concern based on various indices. According to the Global Peace Index, Pakistan ranks 138th out of 160 countries, significantly lower than Ghana, which ranks 54th. In terms of crime statistics, the murder rate in Pakistan is 4.0 per 100,000 people, compared to Ghana's much lower rate of 1.8. The Global Organized Crime Index also highlights challenges, with Pakistan scoring higher in areas like mafia groups (6.0), crime networks (7.5), and human trafficking (8.0) compared to Ghana's scores of 3.0, 6.5, and 6.5 respectively. Overall, while travel is possible, tourists from Ghana should exercise caution and stay informed about local conditions and safety measures when visiting Pakistan.
