Panama offers a unique combination of cultural heritage and vibrant natural landscapes, enhancing its appeal as a tourism destination. It plays a significant role in regional tourism and contributes notably to its economy. As a result, it could attract a segment of Vietnam's population of 98 million.
Panama's safety for tourists from Vietnam can be assessed through various crime statistics. According to the Global Peace Index, Panama ranks 94th out of 160 countries, indicating a lower safety level compared to Vietnam, which ranks 41st. The murder rate in Panama is significantly higher at 12.7 per 100,000 people, compared to Vietnam's 1.5. Additionally, the Global Organized Crime Index shows that Panama has higher scores in several categories, suggesting greater challenges with organized crime. For instance, Panama scores 7.5 for mafia groups and 8.5 for cocaine trade, while Vietnam scores 6.0 and 4.0, respectively. Overall, while Panama has many attractions, tourists should be aware of the higher crime rates and take appropriate precautions.
